Hanging food in the wilderness – camping?

I’m working on a story about a man who goes on a lengthy portage in Canada’s Arctic.

It’s recommended to hang your food atleast 4 meters above the ground as required by the governments.

Tall trees in the arctic are sometimes hard to find and you have to contend with black bears and wolverines (that can BOTH climb – check out the youtube videos as proof).

When I went to the arctic, the locals told us to use 1/8″ aircraft cable instead of para-cord or poly rope because of the ravens.

Ravens are very intelligent and can figure out that if they break the para-cord the food falls to the ground and they can eat it. They can’t break air-craft cable.
