Even President Obama Enjoys the Wilderness in his Outdoor Gear too
A suitable outdoor gear is a must for all nature lovers whether you’re into it for sports or recreation. Every day, people escape into the wilderness for different reasons. Some visit the wilds to find peace and tranquility that is seldom seen in the city. Others prefer mountain hiking for the challenge that it presents while some are there for fun. Still, there are some who find themselves in the great outdoors just to marvel at its beauty and elegance. But for whatever reason you may have, you have to have the right outdoor gear to avoid disappointing or even disastrous dates with Mother Nature.
Last August 31, 2010, President Barack Obama demonstrated the importance of National Park preservation for future generations by declaring the whole month of September as the National Wilderness Month. The declaration helped increased awareness to the depleting Natural Parks around the world. They were also hoping to increase the number of visitors to the National Parks in the United States, and in a way hope to infuse new blood to help the outdoor gear industry that was limping for a while during the global economic meltdown.
Today an impressive number of internet ads on various products for outdoor activities are sprouting about, offering outdoor gear sale. The number of outdoor enthusiasts looking for outdoor gear sale and inexpensive outdoor equipments has increased as well.
President Obama spearheaded visits to the wilderness to direct the nation’s interest to outdoor activities, posting a new photostream on its official blog that includes some of his fishing photos on the East Gallatin River near Belgrade, Montanaduring his trip to the State. But the Government hopes to earn more than that. The United States can use all the help they can get from all sources possible these days, and the declaration of the National Wilderness Month surely made its impact. Outdoor gear manufacturers began producing more products to meet the soaring demands.
The Americans were reintroduced to the beauty and serenity of the Natural Parks around the country. The government’s initiative sparked the interest of the nation and people began heading out towards the wilderness. Evidence of the people taking interest to outdoor activities can be seen even in the internet as travel enthusiasts are becoming more and more dynamic. Active searches for destination sights and outdoor gear websites are becoming busier too.
The Obama Administration is hoping to generate the much needed income from the tourism industry, and so far the government was receiving positive responses from the people. Visits throughout the 58 protected National Parks around the country have seen a respectable growth from last year, and many expect this trend to continue. The world’s wilderness are becoming smaller as we advance towards technological and industrial advancements, but the move to draw the nation’s awareness to the preservation of the remaining Natural Parks should not end with the country’s economic recovery.
Once while marveling at the beauty of the Grand Canyon, President Theodore Roosevelt said;” the ages have been at work on it, and man can only mar it.” Remember these words once you are out there in the wilds. Be careful not throw your garbage anywhere and leave defective things like broken flashlights and batteries among others. Small things like these will ultimately destroy the beauty of the place.
As the famous outdoor saying goes, “don’t take anything but pictures, and don’t leave anything but footprints”. There are a lot of different ways to enjoy the great outdoors without marring its beauty. So take out your outdoor gear and have fun with Mother Nature!
